2018-2019 GSL GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT

The Girls’ Service League (GSL) Director of Educational Grants is pleased to announce the 2018-2019 Grant Application Process for scholarships specifically for women wanting to start or finish their undergraduate degree. Scholarship awards range from $500 to $1000, which will be distributed starting fall 2018 semester. These scholarships are part of the Girls’ Service League's initiative “Women Empowering Women Through Higher Education.”

Letter of Intent

The Letter of Intent allows us to see who is applying for a GSL grant and enter your information into our grant database. It will also allow us to see the amount of interest in each county we serve.

Please click here to open the document, complete the online form and e-mail the document to girlsserviceleague@att.net no later than November 30, 2017  You will then receive an e-mail confirming that the Letter of Intent was received along with the 2018-2019 Grant Application and Instruction Guide attached to the e-mail.

NOTE: The Letter of Intent and GSL Grant Applications are online forms that must be completed electronically. HAND WRITTEN FORMS WILL BE REJECTED.

Letter of Intent Instructions

Thank you for your interest in the 2018-2019 Girls’ Service League Grant Application Process.  

1.      Please save the Letter of Intent form to your computer in the following format:
        GSL-LOI-yourlastname.pdf (i.e., GSL-LOI-whitlock.pdf).

2.      Open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader or other PDF Editor Applications to complete your information.

3.      Save the completed file and e-mail it to girlsserviceleague@att.net.

GSL Recipient Requirements

Eligibility requirements for applicants:

·          Applicant must be a U.S. citizen with legal residency in Johnson, Parker or Tarrant County, Texas
         for a period of at least one (1) year prior to filing this application

·          Applicant must be attending or applying for acceptance to an accredited Texas college

·          Applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree (AA, AS, BA or BS degree) at a college or
         university within the State of Texas (GSL does not provide funding for technical or vocational schools).

There are three separate eligibility requirements for high school seniors, college students and women seeking to advance their education:

1.      High School Seniors - to be eligible, applicant must be a high school graduate (or graduating senior by
        Summer 2017), have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 and have been accepted for fall 2017 enrollment

2.      College Students - to be eligible, applicant must be enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year
        college/university, have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 and have been accepted for fall 2017 enrollment

3.      Women Seeking to Advance Education - to be eligible, applicant must be a high school graduate, have
        a general education diploma (G.E.D.) or have previously attended college and after a long absence,
        have been accepted for an undergraduate degree program for fall 2017.

Selection criteria for all scholarships include:

·          Academic performance (including transcripts);

·          Community activities and service;

·          Letters of recommendation;

·          Application information;

·          Financial information and an essay.

Continuing Recipients

If you have recently received a GSL scholarship and will be attending school fall 2018, you will receive a continuing scholarship form via e-mail, which will be sent out April 2018.
